Young people are the future of dairy in Pennsylvania, with nearly 20 percent of all dairy farms expected to transition to the next generation within the next 5 - 10 years. Exposing these dairy youth to the many opportunities found within dairy is key to maintaining and growing their interest in this dynamic industry. Discover Dairy Upper Level Lessons
The Discover Dairy Lesson Series offers four upper level lessons to expose students in grades 6 - 8 to how dairy farms play a role in our world. The lessons apply science-based concepts to real world scenarios to teach students about genetic selection, renewable energy on the farm, milk safety testing, cheese making, and other aspects of the dairy industry. The lessons meet state educational standards and anchors.
