Various organizations within Pennsylvania support the dairy industry by providing information, education, promotion and advocacy of the industry. Here is a sampling of those organizations. Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture encourages, protects and promotes agriculture and related industries throughout the commonwealth while providing consumer protection through inspection services that impact the health and financial security of Pennsylvania's citizens. The Center for Dairy Excellence is an initiative of the PDA. Links to other programs offered through PDA can be found on the department's website.

Professional Dairy Managers of Pennsylvania

The PDMP membership organization provides a unique opportunity for progressive producers to interact in an educational and informational way with other progressive producers and agri-business persons. PDMP offers educational and networking opportunities with other producers and leaders in the dairy industry. Working together, the members serve as an influential voice for Pennsylvania's dairy industry.

Pennsylvania Dairymen's Association

The Pennsylvania Dairymen's Association seeks to enhance the general welfare of the Pennsylvania dairy industry.   The dairy producer Board  of Directors direct financial resources to numerous state dairy programs.  The programs include, but are not limited to, dairy youth development, dairy product promotion, and consumer education. Penn State Dairy Alliance

Dairy Alliance, a component of ongoing extension programs, aims to enhance the economic development of the Pennsylvania dairy industry through leadership and focused educational efforts. The site is a resource for individual farms and producers in dealing with issues that relate to information technology, human resources, and business management.

Penn State Cooperative Extension

Your cooperative extension office is a local source of timely, research-based information and skilled professionals – extension agents -- who can help you troubleshoot issues on your farm, locate resources you need and ultimately enhance your farm’s productivity.

Pennsylvania Dairy Princess and Promotion Services, Inc.

A grassroots organization that brings together county volunteers and local dairy promoters to promote the sale and consumption of milk and dairy products throughout the state of Pennsylvania and to train young people to serve as dairy industry promoters now and the agricultural leaders of the future.

Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association

Headquartered in Philadelphia, Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association is supported by more than 7,500 dairy farmers in the Mid-Atlantic region through the national 15-cent dairy checkoff program. Mid-Atlantic works closely with Dairy Management Inc.™, the Milk Processors Education Program (MilkPEP) and regional counterparts to bring a fully integrated national promotion program to the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Pennsylvania Dairy Beef Quality Assurance Program

Pennsylvania has a Dairy Beef Quality Assurance Program, in which all dairy producers are encouraged to become certified to show our customers that we are responsible producers of food and that we are concerned about animal welfare issues. Dairy F.A.R.M.

Dairy farmers have a longstanding commitment to doing what is right. The National Dairy FARM Program: "Farmers Assuring Responsible Management" provides consistency and uniformity to best practices in animal care and quality assurance in the dairy industry. It is a nation-wide, verifiable program that addresses animal well-being.

Penn State Dairy Outlook Web Site

Authored by Jim Dunn, professor of agricultural economics at Penn State, this site graphs and charts trade reports and provides various market data on a weekly basis.

Pennsylvania National Ag Statistics

The National Ag Statistics Service in Harrisburg is an excellent resource for local, state and national statistics about dairy and other sectors of agriculture. There you can search to find out annual milk production, cow numbers and other facts about Pennsylvania's dairy industry.
